Woman, son pushed to death from train

WARANGAL: A woman and her eight-year-old son died, while her daughter suffered serious injuries when they were pushed off a running train by a fellow passenger after an argument over seat on Thursday night. D Lakshmi (36), her son Jaswant (8) and daughter Radha (12) were pushed out of Guntur-Secunderabad intercity train near Pembarthi station.

Lakshmi and Jaswant died and Radha was injured seriously.

Mediapersons, who were informed of the incident by a passenger in the train, found the bodies of mother and son near the railway track.

Radha was seen battling for life in the bushes. She was rushed to MGM hospital in Warangal in 108 ambulance. According to Radha, an unidentified man had an altercation with them over a seat in the train. β€œHe said the seat in which my mother was sitting was his. After we shifted from the seat to another one near the door, the man, continuing to abuse us, pushed us out of the train,” she said.

Update:Its suicide, say railway police

HYDERABAD: The railway police at Secunderabad clarified on Saturday that D Lakshmi from Chodavaram in Visakhapatnam district had committed suicide after pushing her children off the Guntur-Secunderabad inter-city express train near Pembarti railway station in Warangal district on Friday, and was not pushed out of the train as reported.

The police said that a suicide note was found in her home, in which she wrote that she was going to commit suicide along with her two children as her husband D V Satyanarayana had been harassing her for a divorce so that he could marry again.
