Warangal doctor gets place in Guinness book of World records

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ajit Singh on Sunday presented Warangal-based chest specialist Dr Vyakarnam Nageshwar with the prestigious Guinness World Record certificate for his record breaking feat of extending medical services to 1.6 lakh people during ‘Lakshagala Sankeerthanarchana’ organised at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, on May 10, 2009.

An organisation named ‘Silicon Andhra’ conducted this mega event on the eve of 601st birth anniversary of legendary poet Annamacharya.
A 40-member team of doctors led by Dr Nageshwar, who owns Aswini Hospitals in Warangal, extended medical services for five hours to the participants of the largest singing group.

Guinness organisation handed over the certificate to Silicon Andhra representatives in USA recently. Mamatha from Silicon Andhra group urged the Union Minister Ajit Singh to felicitate the record holder during his visit to the city. The Union Minister presented Nageshwar with a shawl at the inaugural meeting of Telangana Rashtriya Lok Dal party held at Sunderayya Vignana Kendram on Sunday.

Dr Nageshwar has the distinction of receiving felicitation certificate from Pope Benedict XVI of Vatican City, Rome, in 2007 for rendering medical services to HIV patients. He has also got various awards from the State government.
