With the aim of countering BJP’s high profile campaigners in Parkal bypoll campaign, the TRS unit has roped in Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy group for support to their party nominee Mr Moluguri Bikshapathi on Saturday.
The independent group led by Nagarkurnool MLA Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy comprises MLAs K. Harishwar Reddy and Mr S. Venugopalachary.
On the first day of their campaign, the Nagam group members toured two villages and addressed a public meeting in Sangem mandal on Saturday appea-ling for votes in favour of TRS nominee Mr Moluguri Bikshapathi. Though TRS sources did not indicate likely joining of Nagam group in the party, nevertheless, they feel that their support in the campaign would provide much needed moral support for the cadre as TRS is presently relying on few star campaigners. The TRS’ list of star campaigners comprises party chief Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao (programme on June 9), MP Ms Vijayashanti (June 6-7) an CPI state secretary Mr K. Narayana (June 5).
Earlier in the day, speaking to media persons at TRS party office, Nagark-urnool MLA Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy chose to be ‘politically correct’ by not hitting out against the BJP. “The BJP should not have contested in Parkal bypoll after TJAC’s decision to support the TRS based on its pre-poll survey in Parkal constituency,” he said, while giving a call to the people to defeat ‘Seemandhra parties’.
Meanwhile, the Nagam group’s decision to support the TRS in Parkal has again led to bitter feelings in the BJP camp. “It shows a partial attitude on the part of Mr Nagam as we have also extended him support during Nagarkurnool bypoll. Therefore, the Nagam group should either stay independent or join the TRS,” said BJP former MLA Mr M Dharma Rao. However, the TRS Medak incharge Mr K. Rajaiah Yadav said there was nothing wrong with Nagam group’s support(DC).
