A three-and-half-year-old boy, who was kidnapped from Warangal, was found at Jeedimetla on Monday evening. Jeedimetla police said the kid, Ritesh alias Vicky, son of one Naresh from Madikonda in Warangal, was sold for `1.5 lakh to a businessman by his kidnappers. The incident came to light when a local TV channel broadcasted news about the child on Sunday night.
Jeedimetla police found the boy from the house of one Subramanian at Anjai-ahnagar, Jeedimetla. Mr Subramanian, who runs a rice shop in his locality, had bought the boy from his acquaintance named Hari three months back. Cops said Hari is at large now. Jeedimetla inspector A. Sanjeeva Rao said the child had gone missing from his home three months ago. “We suspect that the kid was sold to Subramanian just two days after he was kidnapped,” Mr Sanjeeva Rao said. He added that Subramanian was ready to buy the boy since he had no children.
After the news was telecast in the TV channel, Jeedimetla police informed the Madikonda police, who in return, went to Jeedimetla with the kid’s parents. The boy was handed over to his parents by Monday night. Police is yet to find out who the kidnappers are and how they have sold the kid in city. Cops are interrogating Subramanian regarding the matter. Madikonda sub-inspector Ragavendra said that they had booked a kidnap case on a complaint lodged by the boy’s father Naresh. “We are yet to trace the abductors. With this new development (of finding the boy with the businessman), we hope to catch the kidnapers soon,” he said.
