TDP, BJP target YSRC

The Telugu Desam Mahila wing led by Ms G. Premalatha Reddy launched a frontal attack against YSR Congress honorary president Ms Y.S. Vijayalakshmi ahead of her scheduled Parkal tour programme by releasing a 32-point questionnaire on Thursday. The 32 questions skipped any reference to Y.S. Jagan’s controversial events like the aborted Odarpu-cum- Mahbubabad firing incident or his ‘Samaikuandra’ placard waving incident in Parliament but listed only queries related to corruption and alleged misuse of power.

In her list of questions, Ms Premalatha Reddy sought to know why unlike her, the former CM of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi did not come on to the road to protest arrest of his daughter and Union minister Ms Kanimozhi following her arrest in 1.76 lakh crore 2G spectrum case.

“Why did not the former CM seek people’s support after the arrest of his daughter,” she asked, while faulting Ms Vijayalakshmi for not consoling the grieving family of high ranking government officials like B.P. Acharya after they were named in Jagan illegal asset cases.

They also criticised Ms Vijayalakshmi for raking up conspiracy theory behind the copter crash that killed the former CM and her husband Y.S Rajasekhar Reddy. In their questionnaire, they sought to know why both Ms Vijayamma and her son Mr Jagan did not disclose the conspiracy theory before UPA chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi when they met her.

Interestingly, the Telugu Mahila wing members sought public apology for the ‘crores worth of corrupt deals and scams including alienation of lakhs of acres of land, money laundering, economic offences and illegal mining figuring in YSR regime’ during Ms Vijayalakshmi]s visit to Parkal.

The BJP unit led by former minister Ch. Vidyasagar Rao too stepped up its attack against Ms Vijayalakshmi ahead of her visit by asking her to announce their party’s clear stand on T.

“She should clarify her late husband and CM Rajasekhar Reddy’s controversial statement that Andhra people would require visa to travel to Hyderabad if the state is separated,” he said.

However, the TRS unit, which has already given a call to its cadre not to oppose Ms Vijayalakshmi’s visit, has downplayed her visit. The TRS unit leaders did not comment.
