With the Parkal bypoll campaigning coming to an end on Sunday, all the contesting parties made a last ditch effort to launch a counter attack against what rival party leaders stated in the past few days.
While a few parties like BJP, the Congress and the YSR Congress concluded their bypoll campaign by taking up massive rallies in Parkal town on Sunday, the TRS and the TD nominees continued their campaign until the official deadline time. For its concluding bypoll campaign rally, the BJP roped in its national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain and actor-politician Kota Srinivasa Rao, while the Congress camp displayed its might with two district ministers and government chief whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy-led rally in Parkal.
The top leaders of rival parties also spent the last day of bypoll campaign in launching counter attacks at each other. From the TRS, it was led by TRS senior leader T. Harish Rao, who slammed BJP’s Ms Sushma Swaraj for not coming to the aid of suspended Congress MPs in Lok Sabha. “Why she is campaigning only in Parkal while ignoring the other BJP bypoll seats in the Andhra,” he asked. While predicting an end to Konda goondarajyam, he expressed hope that the Parkal outcome would usher in TRS’s gulabi rajyam. However, the BJP chief Mr G. Kishan Reddy launched a counter-attack after their party’s modestly successful Telangana Poru Sabha in the city on Saturday. “The TRS is branding the BJP as a communal party only after it tasted defeat in Mahbubnagar bypolls,” he told media persons on the last day of bypoll campaign in Parkal.
Mr Kishan Reddy has decided to include two anecdotal stories in his every public meeting henceforth. “One is the BJP doctor, TRS compounder and T patient story and another is the two-feet rope to draw water from 270 feet well story,” he added.
TD nominee Challa Dharma Reddy spent the last day by taking a dig at YSRC nominee Ms Konda Surekha.
