NIT Warangal honored with ABP News award

The National Institute of Technology, Warangal, and the School of Management (NITW) have been honoured with awards from ABP (Ananda Bazaar Patrika) News.

The Director, NIT Warangal, thanked the jury for honouring NIT Warangal and School of Management.

M. Ravindar Reddy, Head, School of Management, NITW, received the Outstanding Engineering Institute in South for the year 2012 and B-School with Industry Related Curriculum in Information Technology from ABP News National B-school Awards for the third consecutive time on June 30 at a function organised in Mumbai.

The ABP News National B-School Awards recognises institutions that are innovative modern and industry related in their curriculum in marketing, advertising, marketing communications and engineering and technology.

The awards were well researched and chosen by an independent jury and a panel of professionals who believe in nurturing talent and in recognising the best of the best.

National Institute of Technology, Warangal, was honoured with Outstanding Engineering Institute in South for the year 2012.

IT skills training

A one week training programme on ‘IT Skills for Technical Helpers/ Attenders of NIT, Warangal’ was inaugurated by T. Srinivasa Rao, Director, NITW, here on Monday.

Stressing the need for upgrading skills on a regular basis, Prof. Rao said earlier people were distinguished as literate and illiterate. But now, people ask whether someone is computer literate or not. “In the present times, it is very much essential that everyone in NIT has minimum computer knowledge so that their work efficiency can be improved,” he said.

In all 63 employees of NIT were taking part in the training programme, which was sponsored under Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP-Phase II).

D.V.S.S. Siva Sarma, Head, Computer Centre, spoke on objectives of the programme. During the programme participants would be given hands-on experience with essential computer literacy. C.S.R.K. Prasad, Academic Coordinator under TEQIP and other Heads of Departments, were also present at the inaugural programme.
