Mamunoor airport gets 28cr towards land acquisition

Warangal: The State Governments’ reported decision to allocate Rs 28 crore towards the land acquisition for the proposed Mamunoor airport here was welcomed by a senior Congress leader Ghanta Narender Reddy.
It might be noted during a high level officials meeting, which was attended by the District Collector Rahul Bojja in Hyderabad recently, the Government has in principle consented to sanction the funds for the project.

According to the Airport Authority of India (AAI), another 445 acres of land was needed for the construction of airport at the Mamunoor airstrip situated on the outskirts of the town. The officials have planned to acquire the land in the villages Mamunoor, Nakkalapalli and Timmapur adjoining the airstrip. A survey in this connection would soon be taken up followed by the process of land acquisition.

The Congress leader Narender Reddy has said that the construction of the airport at Mamunoor would help for the large scale industrial development of the district. He appealed to the government to expedite the process of the construction. It might be noted that the project was conceived in the year 2006 when the then Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy granted permission for the development of the airstrip into a full-fledged airport.

Narender Reddy, who has been fighting for the cause for several years, has thanked Minister for Infrastructure Investments and Airports Ganta Srinivasa Rao for granting the funds. He also thanked the Ministers from the district P Lakmaiah, B Saraiah, the Government Chief Whip G V Ramana Reddy, MPs, S Rajaiah, P Balaram Naik and R A Bhasker for their efforts in making the Government to consent for the allocation of funds.
