Warangal: Minister for B C Welfare Baswaraju Saraiah promised that a state-of-art stadium would be constructed at old Azamjahi Mills in Warangal under the auspicious of Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA). He disclosed that the state Government had decided to construct the stadium at each Assembly constituency and as a part of that policy he would work for the construction of a huge stadium in Warangal.
He addressed the gathering after inaugurating the 58th School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Hanamkonda on Tuesday.
Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Kabaddi competitions are being held for the students in the age group of of 14-17 years till January 3.
Minister Saraiah promised that he would work for the welfare of sportspersons apart from developing more sports activities for the sportspersons in the district. He said that he would direct the sports officials to supply enough sports material and create desired infrastructure for sportspersons. He promised that he would get enough funds for building the state of art stadium in the heart of Warangal. He said that sports facilities would be created for other schools on par with residential schools under the Rajiv Vidya Mission (RVM) scheme.
He recalled that performances by the various artistes had attracted the bigger audiences during the recently held Kakatiya Festival in Warangal.
Warangal MP Sircilla Rajaih asked the boys and girls to take victory and defeat with the same feeling. He said that sportspersons would get physical fitness at the same time mental satisfaction with active participation in the sports.
DEO Ramesh Babu disclosed that sports in 31 disciplines were organised so far in the academic year 2012-13 with 30 teams participating, 6 local teams had won the gold medals.
Banda Prakash, Peddi Venkatanarayana Goud, Devender Reddy, Praveen Kumar, Vasudeva Rao, Kommu Rajender and others had participated in the inaugural function.
