Andhra Pradesh tourism department is gearing up for the Kakatiya Heritage Festival to be celebrated for three days from December 21, bringing to the fore the culture and traditions of the Kakatiya dynasty, at Warangal.
During the festival that commemorates the establishment of the dynasty 850 years ago, special tour packages will be organised to showcase heritage sites like the Kakatiyas’ Warangal Fort, thousand-pillar and Ramappa temples.
Programmes by prominent personalities like Raja Reddy, Radha Reddy, Mangal Bhatt, Yella Venkateshwar Rao, stalls showcasing Cheriyal paintings, Pembarthy brassware and Warangal carpets will be put up.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Union tourism minister K. Chiranjeevi will open AP Tourism’s Rs 25-crore 34-room hotel.
“The foundation stone will be laid for the Amenity Centre in Jangalapalli and a boating facility will be inaugurated in Pakal Lake. An accomodation facility and a restaurant with a suspension bridge will be opened at Laknavaram lake by end of January 2013,” said state tourism minister V. Vasant Kumar.
AP Tourism will be starting a Kakatiya tour from Hyderabad. Costing Rs 3,000 per adult, it includes AC transport and accommodation on twin-sharing basis, meals and tour escort.
